In the following years, under the direction of composer Nguyen Van Dong, she took part in competition at the venerable Quoc Thanh Theatre. As a result of her first appearance on television in 1969, she earned the nickname “Queen of Sorrow” because of her deep ability to evoke timeless sorrow in her vocal performances.
