Jason Corder
Following 25 years as a singer, songwriter, and composer, Jason Corder is adept on the guitar, piano, and a range of traditional African instruments. He became a citizen of the world after graduation from Swarthmore College, with bases in San Francisco, Paris, and Nairobi. Jason is focused on his Kenyan band, BWK, and composing music for film. Working with the top Kenyan directors and artists, Jason records in the Alternative, Afro-fusion, Folk, Film, Pop, and Singer/Songwriter genres. Influences include Peter Gabriel, Eric Satie, Camille, and others.
Jason Corder’s greatest gift is his voice, and he has been singing his own compositions along with other artists as diverse as Shawn Fanning, Attack Formation, BWK, and Her Space Holiday. He has released an LP, a single, and a track with BWK for film. Jason recorded his album at Shawn Fanning’s home studio, and has since released a single, “Dream On,” written by Philippe Dalecky in Paris.
Jason's influences also include Beck, and Ayub Ogada, a Kenyan icon who is famous for his work on Peter Gabriel's Real World music label. Jason has lived in San Francisco, France, Thailand, Kenya, and Ethiopia, and his music is as eclectic as his travels. Jason's catalog is on target for an array of contemporary media productions, including Film, TV, documentaries, and commercials.
Most of Jason's work is about bringing people together, and about putting the audience into a deep and reflective state whereby they can explore themselves and the world further. He tends to create music that is soothing, ethereal, and makes people feel calm but also ready to conquer the world.
