Michael George
Ontario Singer and Songwriter Michael George has won 10 international music awards, including Grand Prize of the Dallas Songwriting Competition for his “Here’s to Love,” as well as two 1st Place Awards in the Singer/Songwriter and Rock Alternative categories. In addition, he won four 1st First Place Awards in the MUSIC AID International Music Awards, and won the United We Roll International Songwriting Competition. Recognition is building for Michael’s incredibly original songwriting talent, and strong and soulful lyrics, via heaps of critical praise and major Canadian air play.
Michael George studied the craft of songwriting extensively through the National Academy of Songwriters (N. A. S.), the Los Angeles Songwriter's Showcase (L. A. S. S.), and the American Guild of Authors and Composers, as well as with Jack Segal, co-writer of 40 top ten Billboard hits.
After graduating with honors from the internationally acclaimed Musicians Institute in L. A., Michael introduced the pilot program at the Institute, which then featured recording star Kenny Loggins, who was preparing for his Foot Loose Tour.
For the past 20 years, Michael has played his original music in Canada, the U.S.A. and Europe, and has shared the stage or opened for bands such as Tom Cochrane, Blue Rodeo, The Cowboy Junkies, Long John Baldry, Leahy, Chilliwack, David Wilcox, Beverley Mahood, and many others -- playing for audiences of up to 10,000 strong. Michael has been lead singer, arranger and guitarist for many bands, and has toured as a solo act for most of his life.
Recently, Cliff Fabri picked up Michael’s “Undecided” for new artist Samantha Moore at Interscope.
