The Commuters
The Commuters might hail from New York, but their kinetic, personal anthems capture an Alternative Rock essence that aspires towards worldwide mass appeal. From the outset of their highly acclaimed debut LP, Rescue, their signature sound was front and center: unforgettable hooks, poignant lyrics, huge guitars that ring and echo, and a tight rhythm section. The Commuters early success includes having their first single "As I Make My Way (On A Journey)" added to video rotation on MTVu, extensive US radio play, and performances at many notable Manhattan and Brooklyn venues.
Before forming The Commuters in 2010, Canadian-born frontman Zeeshan Zaidi helped develop the careers of major label artists while working at Arista and RCA records, and he also produced Grammy-nominated Ryan Leslie’s first demo. Guitarist Uri Djemal is a childhood friend of Zaidi’s (they grew up together in the Philippines) and a NY-based producer. The two co-produced the album at Djemal’s studio, where he has produced many artists in NY’s Indie-Rock scene, and recently engineered a track on Kanye West’s upcoming album. They are joined by French-raised Ben Zwerin on bass, who has backed many accomplished Jazz and World artists, and upstate NY native Paul Amorese on drums.
