A multi instrumentalist, Michael Kobayashi of Los Angeles plays both electric and acoustic guitars, percussion, bass, keyboards, turntables, saxophone, and programs beats. Michael got his start playing guitar with Barbara Long, former lead singer from the Grammy-nominated band Hiroshima. A musical chameleon, Michael has played big band jazz, smooth jazz, thrash metal, hip hop, roots rock, funk, and R&B. He has scored numerous films, plays, a museum exhibit, a TV show, and currently gigs weekly in southern California.
A few highlights of Michael Kobayashi's career include composing music for "Shop on Third", "The Summoning", "The Bat, The Bird, and The Beast", "Eyewitness Photojournalist Stan Honda", "Lumpia", "Screw Mars", and "Ronin Boys". He has recorded and performed with: Barbara Long, former lead singer with Hiroshima, and with Brenda Wong Aoki, Mark Izu, Sammi, XL Middleton, Lao Fai, The South Bay Allstars, and the Rick Hollander Trio. Michael has produced albums for Marry Me Judas, and southern California thrash metal legends, Insecticide.
