Japan-based Peter Ninnes is a well-seasoned musician and producer of pop songs and themed instrumentals suitable for use with a wide range of media including action, adventure, and romance films, DVDs, electronic games, Film, TV, and documentaries, among others. His musical suite, "Timor," contains tracks reflecting the excitement, chaos, joys and dangers of that newly independent country. Peter's recent Japan-inspired "Mutant Electric Sushi" suite offers music ranging from meditative and sublime ambient works to fast and infectious dance beats.
Peter Ninnes has written for and played piano and guitar in a range of bands over the years from folk, to gospel, pop, and rock revival such as Jonah and the Wailers, The Blackwood Boogie Boys, The Hittites, Jouissance, and Grumpy Old Men. He has survived armed rebellion in East Timor, chilled out in the hills of Bali, heard the sound of one hand clapping in mountain temples in Japan, and farmed sweet potatoes in Solomon Islands. His interest in music began when his parents brought home a portable record player and three 12 inch LPs by The Seekers, Burl Ives and (gasp!) Wally Whyton. His influences include the former two, as well as Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Neil Young, Santana, Chi Chi Peralta, Counting Crows, Dire Straits, Alison Kraus, Beausoleil, Yothu Yindi, Blekbela Mujik, Bob Marley, The Cat Empire, Bruce Spingsteen, Fleetwood Mac, Keali'i Reichel, Louis Armstrong, Stevie Wonder and many more.
