Imagine the scene as the Titanic blows her whistle (bass clarinet)to call all the dancers to the ballroom for the Halloween ball, all the couples are ghosts, the Orchestra are all ghosts, the conductor is the grim reaper using his scythe as a baton, and the ghostly couples are all in their finest ball gowns and dress suits. As the music plays the couples glide around the ballroom floor escorted by shoals of fish, smiling at each other and still in love. The arrangement of this piece provides all the tension for Halloween but also a softer side for those who don't like to be too frightened. This piece was written with this particular scenario in mind, and who says ghosts are not still in love and want to dance and smile.
