He is a past winner of “Chicago’s Finest Guitarist” competition, with heavy hitter sponsors and judges from the likes of Fender, Peavey and Guitar Player Magazine. By a wide margin, his band, SBS, won the 1998 Kool/H. O. R. D. E. competition hosted by The House of Blues. As a result, SBS played on the HORDEFEST tour with top acts like Blues Traveler, Paula Cole, Barenaked Ladies, and others.
