Simon Smart has written production library music since 1989. His music is published through Music House International, KPM Music, West One Music and Noise Pump. In the last 12 months my music has been used on The Oprah Winfrey Show (ABC), Red Dwarf (BBC), True Hollywood Story (E!), Location,Location,Location (UK Ch4TV), Access Hollywood (NBC), Nova (PBS), The X-Factor (UKITV), Human Remains (BBC), Horizon (BBC), Girls Behaving Badly (Sony), Tefal Commercial, Passion Cove (Cinemax), Battle Of X Planes (Nat. Geog), Carnivale (HBO), Ray Mears Bushcraft (BBC), Jeff Corwin (Disc.), Intimate Portraits (Lifetime), Housecalls (CBS), Home and Away (Seven). He has also written specially commissioned work including several generic campaigns for UK Channel 4 and the Station Ident for UK Channel 4.
He works as a commercial recording artist under the name of SONANAUT.
Simon has worked as a recording and mixing engineer in the UK and also in the US and mainland Europe. A significant volume of work was done at London’s Abbey Road Studios. He served as chief engineer at the private studios of Ray Russell, Rod Argent and Mike Moran. Credits include Paul Carrack, Gary Numan, Gang of Four, Ray Russell, Mo Foster, Gil Evans, Simon Phillips, John Wetton, Luka Bloom, DJ Encore, Naimee Coleman, Gary Moore, George Fenton, Harry Nilsson, Peter van Hooke, Rod Argent, Joshua Kadison, Jules Shear, Mike Moran, Soraya, Ezio, Debbie Bonham, Mark Isham, Tony Hymas, Gary Husband, Mort Shuman and many others. Movie and TV soundtrack credits include Terry Gilliam’s ‘The Fisher King’ (Oscar nominated soundtrack), David Attenborough’s ‘The Trials Of Life’ series and UK series ‘Beyond The Clouds’ (Emmy Award winning soundtrack).
