CandyAppleRed is the musical nom de plume of a solo multi-instrumentalist from the UK who has been composing and creating CDs for many years. The music he creates is varied, ranging from folk to heavy metal via electronica, celtic, ambient and loops. It can be down-tuned metal guitar one moment, gentle ambient synths the next. What CandyAppleRed is not is mainstream and boring.CandyAppleRed plays or programs all instruments himself and currently can be heard on guitars, basses and keyboards as well as electronic percussion. So far, the violin eludes him. Keyboards include traditional piano/organ sounds, modern synthesiser patches and soundscapes, and mellotron samples.The music of CandyAppleRed has been described as "gloomy but in a good way" and is eminently suitable for soundtracks where atmospheric instrumental sounds are called for. Tracks range from 5 second flanged guitar loops to 15 minute prog epics, although most of these can be broken down into bite sized chunks!Influences include King Crimson, Brian Eno, Tangerine Dream, Future Sounds of London, Tool, Runrig, classic 70's prog rock, Afro Celts, Pat Metheny.
