With a ten-year history of classical and jazz training in piano, tenor saxophone, guitar, degrees in Recording Arts and Entertainment Business, DeRon has a unique appreciation for the artistry of music. However, this background merely laid the foundation for what DeRon became. With early professional production in the mid nineties, he was drafted into the hip-hop and R&B scene.
His production received underground recognition across the states; nevertheless this was not the true road DeRon wanted take. While the minor success and appreciation was gratifying, DeRon felt the limits of compromising his artistry for a commercial sound.
In an attempt to show how truly universal music could be, DeRon offered the independent scene his first true solo effort in 2001 under the alias of Azariah. The album was entitled “The Healing”. It was an exotic mixture of jazz, rock, and world music. This recording was the maverick for the eclectic, electric, experimental sound that DeRon now likes to call “ocean music."
After recording various projects under a mixture of monikers such as Azariah, Empathy In Love, Modern Kitten Theory, DJ Iceberg, Cure for Cancer, and a host of others, DeRon finally took off his mask and revealed his true talents with his project, "The Ministry of You" in 2004.
