Derek McCorkell is a Singer and Songwriter based out of Minnesota, but that's not where he originated from. Listen to his music, and his origins become clear almost immediately -- the lilt of the Irish brogue shines through magnificently. Derek is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist with a vocal style reminiscent of Davy Arthur of Davy Arthur & The Fureys fame. If you're looking for pure Irish gold, you've found it right here!
Derek was born in 1953 in Londonderry Northern Ireland he later moved to Ballymena Northern Ireland where he resided for nigh on 35 years, writing and performing music has been in Derek's blood from an early age, having acquired his first guitar at the tender age of 14 which survived about a year before being summarily smashed over the head of his younger brother David for laughing at Derek whilst he learned to play the instrument. Needless to say this halted his progress on the guitar considerably until he saved up enough money to purchase another one. After a few years of studious learning Derek decided he was good enough to join a band the musical journey thus was embarked upon.
