Enjoy the Film Trailer for "Mommy," which has won many awards, including the important Jury Prize at @Festival_Cannes Cannes 2014, sharing the Cannes Prix du Jury ex aequo with veteran French director Jean-Luc Godard’s “Goodbye to Language.” While Director Xavier Dolan @XDolan’s “Mommy” has six AudioSparx tracks, they do NOT play in the trailer above, but instead appear in the final film cut. Starring in the film are Anne Dorval as Diane "Die" Després, playing the Mother; Antoine-Olivier Pilon as Steve Després; and Suzanne Clément as Kyla, the new neighbor.
Recent News: "Mommy" won nine Canadian Screen Awards at the 3rd Canadian Screen Awards in 2015, including Best Motion Picture and 10 Jutra Awards at the 17th Jutra Awards, including Best Film. (Jutra is Québec's version of the Oscars.) And in Paris, it also won the 2015 César Award for Best Foreign Film (French: César du Meilleur film étranger).
And next up, Dolan will direct stars Jessica Chastain and Kathy Bates in "The Death and Life of John F. Donovan."
The Film Synopsis: Diane, a single-parent widow, inherits custody of her son Steve, an impulsive and violent ADHD teenager. At the heart of these outbursts and difficulties, they try to make ends meet. Thanks to the unexpected help of the enigmatic neighbor Kyla, all three find an equilibrium shape, and soon hope.
Montreal licensing agent, Sylvain Brassard of Audio Postproduction SPR Inc. (with an impressive IMDb link: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0105455/) was Sound Designer, Sound Supervisor and Mixer of "Mommy," and felt our music was perfect for the film. Below are the four composers’ tracks to be included in background scenes (i.e., playing on the radio, earphones, in stores, etc.) in the film’s final cut:
--Gary Wolk -- Lilting Irish Folk Song signals spring romance and celebrations: Celtic Sunrise
--Linwood Bell -- Jazzy, soulful, romantic music, featuring a Fender Rhodes: Smooth Jazzer
--Raul Denis Jr -- Sizzling Latino Caribbean Tropical music, from Haiti: Korekteman - Haitian Kompa
--Space Taster -- Dramatic, hyper-lively Drugs-and-Rock n Roll cue: Back On the Streets
And these two February Buyouts play in the extended-length film released by Blu-ray on March 18th:
--Martijn de Man -- A beautiful, laidback track a la the styles of Prince and Chicago: Rock Ballad
--The Labrets – Another laid back, hopeful Alt Pop track providing an upbeat vibe for the film: Every Day
This is Dolan’s fourth feature film, pretty awesome for a guy only 25 who considers himself more an actor than a director. Vanity Fair did an extensive article on him, and here are insights in a Huff Po interview: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/01/22/xavier-dolan-mommy_n_6526752.html
The trailer is in French with English subtitles, and all of the music is below if you wish to listen to individual tracks...
