ABOUT THE BAND:
ElectricKoraLand (EKL) create original music using a fusion of world instruments, combined with contemporary sounds.
Since their first album EKL have spread their global roots to an expansive repertoire featuring an Electrified version of the Kora (African Harp); Electronically modulated cello; Mbiras (Thumb Pianos); Hang Drums (Gong like instruments); Cajon, and Balafon (West African Marimba).
These instruments are channelled through an array of effects, with various acoustic hand percussion of African and Contemporary influence, and programmed percussion.
The Kora (African Harp) takes a beautiful journey accompanied by a plucked cello and a pulsing Djembe. This is a sparkly, happy piece, a place where good things happen, or scenes visited as you pass by, people, daily life, travel.. Instrumental, African, African Contemporary
A spacious piece that was written for a collaboration between different artists. The piece is comprised of sparkley Kora (African Harp), draped in multiple violas set against a rich panorama of programmed beats, held together with a Steve Reich inspired Cello line. Instrumental, New Age, Contemporary Instr
Composed for a collaboration with dancers using 2 hang drums, djembes, and additional percussion. This unusual percussive backed piece is as dynamic and eccentric as the name suggests. This drifty solo Kora (African harp) piece has a spacious and calm feel. It evokes imagery of far away and mysterious places. Would be ideal for use in scenes of enchantment, courtly romance, day-dreaming or slow, gentle journeys, Instrumental, New Age, Solos (Strings)
The Kora providing a backdrop with multiple cellos and orchestral percussion fleshing out the textures. Think spacious-perfect for an epic journey; physical, emotional psychological, or metaphysical. Much depth, warmth & inspiration from the banks of the Ganges where Hindus cremate their dead. Instrumental, Dramatic, Ethereal Music
Sparkling, mesmeric kora line and pulsing cellos combine with various percussion. The music seems to hover as it is propelled gently forward, interupted by a dramatic middle section. One use would be journey scenes especially where the characters are showing determination. Instrumental, Dramatic, Contemplative Music

The sea of rains (Mare Ibrium) is a restful, meditative, thoughtful place. Gentle, healing, relaxing like soft rain on the ocean. Cello, Kora and percussion (talking drums changing to djembes). Ideal for a reflective moment, or dream sequence. Instrumental, New Age, Contemporary Instr
A gently hypnotic piece performed on mbira (Zimbabwean thumb piano). The delicate "glass like" resonance of the instrument is beautifully captured. The tune is very peaceful and would suit a nature scene, day-dream sequence or sunny river journey, Instrumental, New Age, Solo Piano

An Mbira (African Thumb Piano) based soundscape populated by multiple cellos, programmed and acoustic percussion, and some tasty synth textures. It has a timeless quality, great depth and spaciousness, elicting an emotional response that is hard to define. Instrumental, Dramatic, Ethereal Music
Listening back to this piece it felt like we had managed to squeeze an entire african village ino a very small space. The word nano seemed to capture this, as well as the fact that some of the studio flourishes give it a more 'futuristic feel'. Mixed Vocals, African, African Contemporary
This is a purely vocal piece combining mostly Indian percussive and melodic patterns with African inspired song, harmonic chant and even a line of beat boxing. A fusion of Indian Vocal percussion, Inidan singing and African verse. An upbeat and intricate piece. A Capella, Indian, Indian Dramatic
