Backwards

I've got a brand new satellite dish 
A jeep with a trailer hitch 
A CD of Big and Rich and a jug of wine 
I've got a crib up in the hills 
Some mad survival skills 
No internet bills and it suits me fine 

But they call it backwards, the way that I live 
Out in the country where the highway ends
Well, I've got plans and places to be 
When I look in the mirror I like what I see 
It ain't backwards, not to me 

My friends got a lot of nerve
Dragged me to the suburbs
Saying watch the curb, don't step on the lawn
They spend all day in their cars
They're slaves to their front yards
They should know in their hearts there's something wrong

But they call it backwards, the way that I live 
Out in the backwoods where the highway ends

Sunshine and freedom and a good family
When I look in the mirror I like what I see

Yeah, come out to the woods
Fresh air will do you good 
Taste some homemade pie

I think it's backwards, how some people live 
Down in the cities with nowhere to fish

A good bend in the river and some shady pine trees
So come out here for a little while, and I guarantee
