River

Well, I’ve been walking side the river, and I’ve been seeing through the bend
And I’ve been trying to make a living, and I’m gonna see it to the end 
Well I’ve been walking down the river, and I’ve been looking at the bend

Well, I met her in San Francisco, it was hard to make ends meet 
We met and then I fell in love, but her family I’d never seen.
 She had  folks in Oklahoma, and a boyfriend waiting back home
The kind he’d never heard about, but still I’m  here alone
Well, I’ve been walking side the river, and I’ve been seeing through the bend
And I’ve been trying to make a living, and I’m gonna see it to the end 
Well we eloped in San Diego, a baby soon on the way 
My Applications were floating round, and the rent was ripe to pay
Then her family came to visit An ultimatum soon came my way
“You’d best support your family, or you’d best soon be on your way”
So (well) I’ve been walking side the river, and I’ve been looking at the bend
And I’ve been trying to make a living, Guess I’m gonna see it to the end
