Teddy Afro is a popular Ethiopian singer and leading critic of the ruling Ethiopian Peoples' Revolutionary Democratic Front. Writing in the World, Afro Pop, and Reggae genres, His politically and socially-inspired songs act as a call for unity and peace, but his opposition to the government inevitably led to legal troubles. His third album, "Yasteseryal," was released in 2005 and coincided with elevated political tension surrounding the Ethiopian general election. Consequently, the government banned four of his songs, including "Yasteseryal."
