Rock-influenced jazz, or jazz-influenced rock. This sub-genre was born primarily in the 1970's as rock musicians started experimenting with jazz influences. It is similar to jazz fusion, although differs primarily from it in that fusion is more avant garde and experimental, whereas jazz rock is more straight-ahead and groove oriented.
