If you've ever dreamed of being an astronaut that day is on the horizon! With the creation of Virgin Galactic, the "world's first commercial spaceline," Sir Richard Branson is on a mission to democratize "access to space for the benefit of life on Earth." Following its successful launch in December 2018, Virgin Galatic's SpaceShipOne became the "only private vehicle in history to carry astronauts into space!" SpaceShipTwo, flying from Spaceport America in New Mexico, will carry two pilots and up to six astronauts. Manufactured and tested in Mojave, California, by Virgin Galatic's sister organization, The Spaceship Company, the fleet also includes an orbital launch vehicle, LauncherOne, and the carrier aircraft WhiteKnightTwo.
We're honored that PianoPassion's rendition of "Strauss - Also Sprach Zarathustra" was selected for this video announcing Virgin Galactic's progress toward becoming the first publicly traded human spaceflight company: Strauss - Also Sprach Zarathustra
Virgin Galactic took a giant leap toward making space tourism a reality when it joined forces with Social Capital Hedosophia and announced plans to go public for investors in late 2019. Initially, passengers will venture to the edge of space on a 10-minute flight where they'll enjoy breathtaking views -- for $250,000. The real potential, however, is in the future possibility for "hypersonic" flight, which will make it possible to travel from L.A. to Beijing in less than two hours!
