Q.  Should I register copyright my compositions before I upload them to AudioSparx?

A.  In general, we do recommend that you register the copyright for your compositions prior to releasing them for public listening or sale anywhere.  Doing this will formally register you as the owner of your songs.  Further, it will provide a substantial amount of legal protection to you in the event that, after you release your songs anywhere, if some third party pirates them and infringes on your copyright, you can then sue that third party and win a financial award at trial for statutory copyright infringement. This financial award is much higher than would be possible if you have not registered your copyrights prior to the occurrence of the infringement.

In the USA, you can register your copyrights with the U.S. Library of Congress.  For complete information on how to do this, please visit the following web site:
http://www.copyright.gov/

Obtaining a US copyright registration for your works is one of the best protective steps you can take for your valuable audio tracks, as the US market is one of the largest in the world (if not the largest).
