Q.  What is "Foley", and does AudioSparx carry Foley sounds?

A.  Foley is the sound effects recorded in synchronization to edited picture in post-production. Named after Jack Foley, who was the head of the sound effects department at Universal Studios for many years. Contrary to popular myth, he did not invent the process. Foley is often expressed as "Foleys" in New York. Likewise, it is often called the "cloth" track on the West Coast and is sometimes referred to as "rustle" back East.  A
Foley artist, also known as a Sound Editor, is someone who creates or assembles and overdubs the sounds that cannot be properly recorded during an original video shoot. This often includes creating foot steps, thunder, creaking doors and even the sound of punches during a barroom brawl.  AudioSparx has a huge selection of sounds that are perfect for use by Foley artists.
