Peaches and Chocolate

My five year old told me, 'Black people aren't black'
My five year old told me, 'Black people aren't black'
I said, 'Dear sweet child, why you sayin' that?'

He said, 'Black folks are brown/Some are dark like chocolate'
He said, 'Black folks are brown/Some are dark like chocolate'
'Some are medium like cinnamon and some are a real cool tan'

I said, 'Well, what about white people?' He said, 'They're not white!
I said, 'Well, what about white people?' He said, 'They're not white!
He said 'White folks are all the colors that you see in peaches'   
So it's, 

Peaches and Chocolate/Chocolate and Peaches
And all the colors in the world between
Peaches and Chocolate/Cinnamon and Tan
God's own tech-color rainbow dream

I said, 'What about the Indians?' He said, 'Sshhh...I'm watchin' Sesame Street'
I said, 'What about the Indians?' He said, 'Sshhh...I'm watchin' Sesame Street'
An hour later he says, "They're all the colors that you see in pennies"

I says, 'What about the Japanese? The Chinese, the Thai, Korea and Vietnam?'
I says, 'What about the Japanese? The Chinese, the Thai, Korea and Vietnam?'
He comes runnin' up holdin' up a handful of apricots!     
So it's, 

Peaches and Chocolate/Chocolate and Peaches
And all the colors in the world between
Peaches and Chocolate/Copper and Apricot
God's own tech-color rainbow dream
