Chickamauga Creek 
will reach the Tennessee
and I’ll still watch its waters flow
if you go.

All our memories
will still belong to me,
the summer storm that soaked out clothes,
if you go.

You say come on let’s fly from here,
this place we both were born.
You say you can’t help wanting more
and moving on.

I look out on these mountains
where the Cherokee roamed.
They say home’s where the heart is,
so where’s my home if you’re gone?

Will you wait Smokey Mountains
for a wondering son
who left you here for another
and take me back when I’m gone?
