THE DAY THE BOSS BOGGED THE D8

It was the day the boss bogged the D8.
He went like a bull at a gate
It sank like a brick on a cake
It was great, it was great.
Everyone had something to say
It was just like a holiday
Pour me another glass of bud
The boss is sinking in the mud

Behind the factory was a sludge pit of washout from the trucks.
For years the boss had left it cos it cost to many bucks
The department wrote a letter – said for safety it must go
The boss would have to do it regardless of the dough!

At the quarry was a dozer – a Caterpillar D8
80 thousand pounds it weighted – and he had to pay the freight
They brought it in and set it down, it started with a roar
The boss gave the thumbs up and then he slammed the door.

It looked as solid as a rock but it was just a crust
Very quickly it was clear that he’d misplaced his trust.
Water shot up to the sky and mud pooled all around
The boss dived madly from the cab in search of safer ground

He watched the dozer sink at a sure and steady pace
When you could only see the roof
You should have seen his face
They used another dozer to dig out the muddy hulk
The boss stayed in the office: all he could do was sulk.
