Sliver of Light

Our futures obscured, we wander so blind
Forever uncertain we’re on the roadmaps we hold in our minds
Like innocent children we’re thrown to the merciless black of the night
And looking to find a sliver of light

That sneaks through the crack beneath life’s hidden door
A glimpse of the reason we’re all put here for
A promise that shows there’s still something more

And who really knows where love goes when it’s gone
In the dark empty halls of the soul, do the echoes of longing play on?
Is there still something real that remains on the pages of life that we write
That still can be read with a sliver of light?

Is our world the creation of just human hands?
Or are we a part of some greater plan?

I still feel the power when you take my hand
Like our love will continues to be when the mountains have eroded to sand
I look at our children and see their eyes, shining and bright
And in them I see a river of light
