HOT SIDE STORY (2014) + MUSIC BY MATTHEW REID Client: Chinese American Museum, Los AngelesAgency: Yoshie Sakai, Gardena, California
Artsy Video... We just discovered the Chinese American Museum LA’s “Hot Side Story,” a parody trailer with AudioSparx music – Yea! While the show closed in July, we wanted to highlight our award-winning client Yoshie Sakai’s funny film patterned on “West Side Story,” where hot sauces duke it out like the Jets and the Sharks did in the popular 1957 Broadway play, later made into a movie... To quote from Yoshie, her film "parallels the ethnic and cultural diversity within American society and its struggle for acceptance."
Supported by the Cal Humanities and other organizations, here’s a Huff Po write-up with many, many photos from the exhibit, along with this quote, “The exhibition, dubbed "L.A. Heat," revolves around the rival hot sauce titans, Sriracha and Tapatio, both of which originated in the city of angels”: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/16/hot-sauce-art-show_n_4958900.html
Enjoy the bright colors -- and YIKES, look out for the mustard!
Morning traffic meets West Side Story. Big Band/modern classical fusion. Great for urban scenes of the forties through early sixties, wild swing dancing, old time gangster or Rat Pack scenes. Also good for retro Space Age scenes a la Jetsons. Mr. Burns would dance to this. Instrumental, Cartoon, Cartoon Jazz
