Dixie Heart

I've traveled cross this country from New York to Santa Fe
Lived in Colorado mountains to the rocky coast of Maine
I've worked in factory cities that were covered deep with snow
But no matter where I am my mind keeps wandering home

And I can smell the sweet magnolia trees
I can see tobacco fields swayin' in the summer breeze
Inside I feel the pride that raised me on that southern farm
It's flowing through my veins `cause I've got a dixie heart

There's nothing like those biscuits and chocolate pecan pies
And fishin’ in the creek under lazy summer skies
My roots are in that soil and growing deeper everyday
The whippoorwill still calls me and though I'm years and miles away
