Well my baby and I don't compromise, we both like to have good time
We could head uptown and socialize at a fancy wine and dine
But we don't see no  big ole need to spend every dime we got
When  we can  spend   time with family and friends
at our favorite picnic spot
We can sit on the porch and do a whole lotta nada or head downtown and eat the whole enchilada
I guess you could say that we rate....... just a cheap date... just a cheap date

We can  drink champagne from a paper cup on the tailgate of my truck
Or we can  sing in the rain at a high school game for 'bout a couple of bucks
A favorite day is on the dock of the bay with  an old cane fishin' pole- 
or a bbq with  a friend or 2  - man that never gets old 
We can sit out back not doing jack - or cruise up town in my old caddilac
I guess you could say that we  rate.........  just a cheap date

We've been to France and We've been to Spain - Went up the E-Tower in the rain
We saw the Opera and La Primavera - But we like romancing on the  Redneck Riviera

We can   stay at home and cook a  fancy meal while we dance around the kitchen  floor
or I can  listen to my baby   play her ukeulelee - while we're  sittin' out on the porch
We don't care if there's  no one there we'll make a party on our own
The clothes we wear don't matter none - we got a style that's all our own
we can hit the road for country drive or sit out back and watch the yard go by 
I guess you could say that we  rate.........  just a cheap date.... just a cheap date
