We was tourin’ Ireland, got lost in the fog. It was me and Bill Johnson - me 3-legged dog. 
‘Round the fens and the dales ’til we finally came to, the blessed road sign sayin’ Jinjeejaroo             

Down the cobblestone lane we ran, thirsty as ghosts. Happened on a wee pub name’a, “Curses & Toasts” 
The red barman, he called out, “Lads, what’ll it be?” Well then, Guinness for Bill and Glenlivet for me     
              And the folk at the back table all sang, hey, hey                                               

Hey duden-diddee, die-diddee, I-ay. Be you stranger or enemy, hold up a day         
Have a cup with yer new pals, but know if you do
You’ll not out-drink The Women Of Jinjeejaroo  

Bill and me sat a’ corner ’til the care left our brow, then Moira, good lass, said, “come, sing with us now”  
And they found my sad baritone fit, tried and true, while me 3-legged Bill gave out, “roo-roo-roo”
And the folks at the back table all sang, hey, hey         

Hey duden-diddee, die-diddee, I-ay. Be you stranger or enemy, hold up a day                                           
Have a cup with yer new pals, but know if you do
You’ll not out-drink The Women Of Jinjeejaroo. 
       
After 3 lively rounds, me and Bill got so bold, as to throw down the gauntlet, then my tale I told                    
“I was known back in Boston as Hollow-Leg’d Paul, And I’m issuin’ challenge - come one and come all”                                                                                                                                   And they answered the challenge - came one and came all!

There was raven-haired Maggie, and steely-eyed Shawn. The tall twins from Ulster, Sinead and Siobhan      
Said Moira, dear angel, “I’m thinkin’ it’s no, but the Yank wants the contest, so let it be so”

So they set out the glasses and the red barman poured, and the last thing I saw ‘fore my chin hit the floor 
Was me 3-legged Bill, cryin’, “roo-roo-roo” And the sweet, smilin’ women of Jinjeejaroo 
And the folk at the back table all sang on and on
