Your headlights faded off into black
You made no promises to come back
Final act, that curtain had come down
The years we shared passed through my mind
The passion and the pain left behind
The happy endings we never found

And I cried ‘cause you were leaving
I cried ‘cause I wanted you to go
Said goodbye to believing 
The story of love I was told

Guess we tried as hard as we could
Two lonely people lost in the woods
Hiding from the demons of the past
We wove a web to keep out the tears
Pretended there was nothing to fear
But fairy tales can never last

I was told forever after is the way it always ends
And wishes come true for the heroine
