E. L. Mahon grew up on an Arkansas farm, but Classical oboe training at 13 landed him as the youngest member of The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. During and after his music studies at the Univ. of Arkansas and Berklee College of Music, he performed worldwide as a bandleader of Top 40 RnB bands, opening for Lou Rawls, Chaka Kahn, and other icons. E. L. [now retired from performing] lives in Colorado and plays sax and keyboards, creating lush, soulful Jazz with a fresh enlightenment that only comes with a life of observing and composing mellow sounds.
From the mid-1970s to 1991, E. L. Mahon toured with several Top 40 RnB bands performing in the US, Hawaii, Guam, The Philippines, Korea, Japan, Okinawa, Puerto Rico, Guantanamo Bay Cuba, and Panama. During these years, in addition to the above artists, he and his bands have opened for artists like Roy Ayers, Frankie Beverly & Maze, Bobby Blue Bland, Syl Johnson, and numerous other groups. During the 80's, E. L. called Hawaii home until moving to Colorado for the first time from 1991 to 1999 when he and his wife moved back to Hawaii.
In 2003, after having lived in Hawaii [again] for several years, E. L. and his wife, Debra, returned back to the mainland to live in Colorado again, and that’s when he began writing music again. Music is definitely both his muse and his passion. Fusing new sounds and orchestral elements, E. L. has created a soulful Jazz that enlightens the mind. Very fittingly, he has named the new genre “NueVision Jazz.” One of his tracks was recently used in the Rob Schneider film "The Chosen One."
This instrumental is cool and sexy. with guitar as the main focus, the beat pumps you up and pushes you ahead. Almost a throwback but still fits in todays music genres. Instrumental, Action, Adventure Rock
Cool track with a focus on intensity. A few airy effects give this track a feel of action or suspense basically as a theme song for a tv show or underscore for a fast-motion scene. Tension, sports chaotic chase, running racing, suspenseful. ESPN footage, arena crowds, espionage, spies on the run. Instrumental, Action, Impending Electro-Orch
This is 2 minutes of intensity incorporating industrial and orchestral elements. A great build up to a climactic finish providing a heart pumping, spell binding trance like piece. Careful... This might make you hurt somebody. Intense building, menacing chase scene, murderer on a rampage, attacking. Instrumental, Action, Intense Electro-Orch
Bluesy with sticks, guitar rythm & organ. Cool black male vocals: "Layin It Down, 'cause it's the Law." Fun playful upbeat & a bit funky, like sinking in the quick southern mud, this song pulls you in and won't let you go. Down home folksy sweet swampy. Louisiana, Cops, Police show, prison blues. Male Vocals, Action, Theme Crime
This instrumental piece is reminiscent of those days of old with soprano sax lead and muted trumpet and brass ensemble to bring it all home. The rhythm is striking with a really cool push. Instrumental, Action, Theme RnB Retro Kitsch
