Angel Ruiz (World Music Tracks)

Angel Ruiz was born in Spain in 1968, and performed first at age seven. He then studied flute and classical guitar. In 1987, Angel took up the five-string banjo, and studied for eight years with banjo legend Tony Trischka. Angel started his professional career with Denyure Quartet (First Prize winner, Aviles Folk Festival). In 1998, he recorded his first album, Banjo Stories, which took off worldwide. Angel's Banjo Blues won 1st Prize in the International Songwriting Competition 2004 (Nashville), and won the Global Rhythm Magazine (New York) Song Contest in October.
