Too Weird – “Midsomer Murders” Iconic Theme Song features
the eerie, magical, mysterious Theremin -- an unusual electronic
instrument played WITHOUT EVER touching the instrument! In the video below, Jim
Parker, the Composer for this popular British Detective TV series playing since
1997 on ITV, with a consistent viewership of 6 million, discusses the show with
a theremin demonstration by Celia Sheen.
A large part of “Midsomer Murders'” success is
the down-to-earth, happily married, DCI John Barnaby (Neil Dudgeon), and his various
sidekick Sergeants. Depicted in the video below are the earlier actors, DCI
Barnaby as portrayed by John Nettles, and Daniel Casey playing Sergeant Troy.

In addition to adding creepiness to murder
mysteries, the theremin thrives in popularity for spooky scenes, horror flicks,
and Halloween ambience. A wonderful theremin cue online at AudioSparx was
created by our great award-winning US Composer Dewey Dellay:

"It's like tickling butterflies," said
Charlie Hobbs, an instructor who also builds and sells custom theremins.” –
that was a quote from The Wall Street Journal article of March 26. And from the
same article, “"It's going to sound like nothing you've ever heard, for
sure," said Rob Schwimmer, one of the NY Theremin Society's directors.
"If uniqueness is something that appeals, you've got it made."
