US pianist and composer Tsai-yun Huang has been writing and performing music since she was a child, and her original Classical and Chinese music has been performed in concert halls such as National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Weill Recital Hall. She's received numerous international awards, including The Ignacy Paderewski International Composition Competition Award and the ICE 21st Century Young Composers Project, and she has also recently signed deals with several large publishers. In addition to the piano, Tsai-yun also plays the pipa and linqin.
Tsai-yun Huang was the winner of the 21st Century Piano Commission Competition in 2006, the Judith Lang Zaimont Prize in 2010, and the UI Symphony Orchestra Composition Commission in 2007, and she also received Honorable Mention at the composition competition held by the Council for Cultural Affairs in Taiwan in 2002. In addition, she was a finalist in both the ASCAP Young Composers Competition and the VI International Contemporary Music Contest "Città di Udine" in Italy. Tsai-yun has also performed at Illinois State University, the University of Kentucky, and Western Illinois University.
