Driving

I’ve been holding my breath
and dancing on a cliff
but, the air’s been good
and there’s room to hold on
 the clouds that laugh and douse me
keep me shaded from the burn
 there’s been to be some straight road
around the next turn

So I keep on driving
yea, I keep on driving
I keep rolling and riding, braking and colliding
tank it up and crank it up again
there’s no stopping when the key to one’s surviving
is to keep on driving
so I keep on driving

The road has gotten rough
the map no longer true
the vehicle is steady
much older now than new
and the course that once was clear
has blurred with many turns
but, there’s bound to be some truth
behind these lessons I have learned
