Dr. Daniel Barry is a highly accomplished composer, conductor, and trumpet player based in Seattle, Washington. His intriguing music falls primarily into the Jazz genre, but integrates elements garnered from advanced Classical music studies and residency and festival performances throughout the world, in particular Brazil and Peru. Daniel was recently honored with a Fulbright Scholarship, and will serve as Composer-In-Residence at the Univeridade Estadual de Campinas, Brazil, in 2012. He also currently writes for and performs regularly with his chamber music group Walk All Ways.
"Barry’s strength as a composer lies in his ability to develop simple motifs into intricately arranged musical stories. Walk All Ways, at once romantic and satirical, is a successful encapsulation of Barry’s vision of the modern musical world. The sounds are fresh, imaginative and worthy of repeated listening." - John Barron, All About Jazz - "Superbly crafted charts... fresh, imaginative approach." - David Franklin, JazzTimes - "Barry's compositions (Music of the Spheres) sound like (Luciano) Berio on morphine, underwater. And this is not a bad thing. These pieces make for great ambient music..." - C. Michael Bailey, All About Jazz
