This award-winning ensemble presents traditional music from various regions of the Philippines, including ritual and ceremonial dances of the mountain-dweller tribes of Luzon and the remote hinterland of Mindanao. With hand-held gongs, bamboo flutes, clappers and drums, their Spanish-influenced music is both nuanced and lively. Other songs here are the music of Filipino Muslims, with their markedly distinctive musical traditions and the inclusion of the mandolin, guitars and bass.
