GREAT VIDEO of the popular Irish Band Zrazy performing their anthemic "Women of 16" in the General Post Office in downtown Dublin on March 6th. Celebrating the centenary of the 1916 Irish Easter Rising, a Flashmob quickly gathered on O'Connell Street to enjoy the band's radical re-write of the National Anthem, reminiscing and calling out the names of many brave, activist women who were "erased" from Ireland's history books.
Zrazy, based in Dublin and London, consists of vocalist, flautist Maria Walsh, and pianist, saxophonist Carole Nelson. Having released six albums so far, in the genres of Jazz and a fusion of Pop and Electronic elements, these two talented women have a growing fan base around Europe and now in the USA, too. In early May, the duo performed at the Derry Jazz Festival.
