In the daily onslaught of attention-grabbing headlines, it seems that HIV/AIDS is no longer front-page news. However, in developing nations the battle against the HIV/AIDS epidemic is still very much front and center. ICAP at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health is working with healthcare systems in Africa, conducting Population-based HIV Impact Assessments (PHIA), surveys to learn how many people are living with HIV and to what degree it is being controlled.

Scotiabank of Trinidad and Tobago partnered with the United Way of Trinidad and Tobago for its annual "Day of Caring" to perform major clean-up of beautiful Manzanilla Beach, which is a critical nesting ground for endangered sea turtles. Hundreds of community volunteers, along with the Manatee Conservation Trust worked together to improve the environment by removing 2,000 bags of garbage and recycling from the beach. In addition, the more than 800 volunteers planted 100 coconut trees to protect against beach erosion.
