I was in an online class through the virtual songwriting education community. An assignment was to come up with a unique lyrical title that posed a question. “I’ll Tell God You Said Hi” actually started out as a title posing a question. Originally it was called “Should I Tell god You Said Hi?”

In one particular moment while sitting on the couch, the phrase “should I tell God you said hi” came to me.
John Wesley Coutts (from Scotland) was taking the class with me. He was “moved” by the title we spoke after the class had ended. He asked me if I would like to take this title and write the song together
