The Light

This Vegas heat is giving me away
Don’t want to leave but I don’t want to stay
She’s turned the key and unlocked the door
But I don’t want to feel anymore

Her pretty eyes have made me face the pain
She’s crawled inside and runs through my veins
She’s warmed my heart and it’s been cold so long
And I don’t know what’s right or wrong

I didn’t know that I was missing the gift to me she’s given
But it seems so hard to bear, it was easier when I didn’t care

She’s a light
She brightens up my darkest skies but if I look to long she burns my eyes
She’s the night
She wakes me up and cools me down, it’s hard to see my way around
But my feet have never touched the ground

It’s new to me, these things I feel
I’m twisted up and I don’t what’s real
I thought I knew but I was so naïve
Now I don’t know what I believe
