Rocking The Country 

I was born on a bus bound for Memphis 
With the radio turned up high 
Was delivered to this world to the rhythm of the road 
Keeping perfect four-four time 

My momma sang like an angel 
Daddy played a mean guitar 
We ruled the road in a travelling show 
Playing honky tonk cowboy bars 

Learned to crawl list'nin to Elvis 
I learned to walk to Jerry Lee 
I grew up rockin' the country 
And that is where I'll always be

Pluggin it in, play it fast and loose

Hear the high lone whistle in that rhythm and blues 


Now the years flew by, got a band of my own 
We play it hard, fast and sly 
I got red on steel, blue on guitar, 
And a drummer sitting way up high 


Now we're kicking it in St. Louis 
Then we're jammin down in Tennesee 
We're still here rocking the country 
Thats the way it's gonna be 


My daughter was born west of Gainesville 
In the back of our band tour bus 
She looks wild and free, just like Red and me 
You know she looks a lot like us
