NOT MUCH OF A DANCER

I’m not much of a dancer, but I can romance her,
off the dance floor. I’m not much of a singer, but I can bring her a joy, and so much more.

Oh, make her weak in the knees. Oh, feel as light as a summer breeze,
Oh, I can tease her, if she pleases.

I’m not much of a poet, but I cannot go it alone, without her.
I’m not much of a writer, but I can delight her, in my own special way.

Oh, she must not delay. She has to try and stay. Oh, be with me today.

I’m not much of a bread-winner. I know I’ve been a sinner, 
but I can change. I’m not much of a thinker, but I think her smile is, 
so wild and strange 

Like misty mountain memories, like the rippling of the deep blue seas,
Like golden stars and cold-night covers, like rollin’ winds and storm-crossed lovers.

I’m not much of a speaker, but I can seek her, with my eyes.
Not much of a painter, but I can paint her, a ruby sunrise.

Oh, what a surprise, never telling any lies. 
She’ll never have to cry, never fear, never have to dry a tear.
No need for heart-felt sighs.  No sad good-byes.

Not much of a poet, but I cannot go it alone, without her.

Oh, there is no more, without her, No safe shore, without her. 
No solid floor, without her.
