If time flowed backward, I should never know,
For my memories would unwind, with the backward flow.
I’d be growing younger, but still wouldn’t know,
That we’d already loved and laughed, already fought and crashed.
In our unwinding time.  Oh life can be so unkind.

‘Cause, now, something is wrong.  I feel I just don’t belong.
Our future’s unwinding, like some suture unbinding.
Our love is unfeeling, like a movie tape unreeling.
My wounds are reappearing where they once were all healing.

When my love is advancing, your love is receding,
When my love starts enhancing, your love starts out bleeding.
When my love is repeating, your love is deleting.
When mine is pursuing, yours is my undoing.  Oh, my undoing.

As every kiss of mine unpresses your lips. 
As every fallen glass, now untips.
As every image of you, unfills my vision of you.
As every scene of ours, is its own revision of the hours.
In our unwinding time.  Oh life can be so unkind.

My hand across your body now untravels.  
As our time unwinds, and our love unravels.
