Genuine American Music is what Delaware artist Austin Morgan is all about. From cool Blues to hot Country, Austin is a singer, guitar player and song writer who grew up with Roots music in his soul. Having learned to make his guitar sing from some of the hottest guitar pickers on the East Coast including Danny Gatton, Billy Hancock and John Lilley of the Hooters, Austin blends his stirring vocals with reflective lyrics to create moods and to tell stories of real people. After over 30 years, Austin has the miles and the dues paid to be called a true American artist.
Austin Morgan began his musical career in the 1970’s heyday of the Washington D.C. music scene lead by the likes of Danny Gatton, Robert Gordan and Tom Principato. Austin cut his musical teeth on D.C. style Rockabilly and Country Blues, studying with the legendary Billy Hancock of Danny (Gatton) and the Fat Boys.
By the age of 15 Austin was hitting all of D.C.’s hottest blues and open jams, learning to make his guitar sing, weep and scream. Austin also began to take on a lead role in his bands, holding down not just the guitar but lead vocals as well.
While earning both college and masters degrees, Austin played and recorded with many original bands and started to write songs and develop his own singing style. Blending Blues, R&B and Country, Austin developed a style that easily crossed musical boundaries and incorporated the best of each.
Throughout the 1980s to today, Austin has played with many Country, Blues, Americana and R&B bands from Maine to Florida, honing his craft and skills the old fashioned way, while evolving into a real American Roots artist.
