Dot Matrix
Dot Matrix consists of seven individuals: four instrumentalists and three emcees. At the turn of the millennium they came together to create a brand new, cutting edge style of hip-hop fusion. Influences like James Brown, The Pharcyde, John Coltrane, The Beatles and The Roots have kept Dot Matrix flying in their own zone and tasting local success.
From opening for Loud recording artists, The Beatnuts, to giving back-to-back performances at the ASA Pro Skate Tour as well as over 60 other shows in two years, they have proved they can definitely rock a crowd. Dot Matrix has
also led the way in the Dallas hip-hop scene by playing The Kiva Showcase (a benefit for a local women's charity), The Taste of Dallas, and the Texas-OUR Weekend. The Dallas Morning News called them "the best live and local band in the Metropolis," and The Dallas Observer crowned them Best Hip-Hop Artists. Since their inception they have made big splashes in the Dallas, Fort Worth music scene.
With many shows under their belts, and more lined up as we speak, Dot Matrix is rapidly becoming the new cutting-edge sound for live hip-hop in the Dallas area. With a rock-solid, hard-hitting live rhythm section laying it down, and Bryan X on the turntables, the jobs of the three emcees becomes very easy, as they spread the butter on the other side of the Matrix.
