Gary Bennett
Gary Bennett co-fronted and was a founding member of one of the most successful country music bands of the 1990's, BR549. During Gary's tenure the group received three Grammy nominations and was hailed by music industry trade magazine Billboard as having single-handedly revived the soul of country music in Nashville. The band sold over 500,000 albums and toured the world, headlining shows as well as opening for such artists as Bob Dylan, George Jones, Merle Haggard, the Black Crowes and Brian Setzer. BR549 was also voted "Best Country Group" in 1996 by Rolling Stone magazine.
Dennis Cook of Harp, Honest Tune, and JamBase recently wrote about Bennett’s new songs, “The former leader of BR5-49, Bennett is an instantly recognizable voice, a dark tongue nestled in his honky tonk cheek while the snare & upright bass steam like a red hot locomotive behind him. Freed from his new traditionalist tag, Bennett gets serious at times, breaking up his well-picked grits & gravy fare with a wounded honesty that rivals primo Merle Haggard.”
"Get the Hell Out Of Here" type of song about a small town kid growing older and wanting to move away to something bigger and better. Male Vocals, Country Music, Country Rock
