‘Greg “Fonkmaster” B’ is an award-winning innovator of electronic and funkafied ambient/chillout soundscapes with smooth and progressive jazz sensibilities. He has also produced pop/rock and orchestral tracks for recent interactive media projects. Among some of his most recent accomplishments, having a positive impact in this ever-changing entertainment industry has been his primary focus. He started playing the drums at the early age of seven. Four years later, the family moved to New Orleans and he immediately became part of the various music communities. He joined the school band and jumped right into performing and gigging with local cover bands. Seven years later his band was given the opportunity to be the opening act for major recording artist, Chaka Khan. As a performing musician from the late 70's to the early 90's and currently as a composer/producer, Gregory has taken everything from r&b to pop, from jazz to hiphop, from easy listening to orchestral music and melded all of these flavas into a delightful synthesis of sensuous, seductive and provocative gumbo. Some of his early influences include Sly and the Family Stone, Parliament/Funkadelic, Kraftwerk, Earth Wind & Fire, Grover Washington, Billy Cobham, Herbie Hancock, The Funky Meters, just to name a few. He is similar to a diverse mix of artists like Soulive, Pieces of a Dream, Prince, Jungle Brothers, Chromeo, Black Eyed Peas, Head Hunters, Moby, George Duke, just to name a few.
