Michael McKissack
Chicago Composer Michael McKissack has 20 years of experience of performing, composing on and teaching guitar. He is a past winner of “Chicago’s Finest Guitarist” competition, with heavy hitter sponsors and judges from the likes of Fender, Peavey and Guitar Player Magazine. By a wide margin, his band, SBS, won the 1998 Kool/H. O. R. D. E. competition hosted by The House of Blues. As a result, SBS played on the HORDEFEST tour with top acts like Blues Traveler, Paula Cole, Barenaked Ladies, and others. His genres include Rock, Electronic, Orchestral, Jazz, Pop, Metal, and Ambient.
Michael McKissack is well versed in most contemporary styles of music. He has studied with a number of musicians, including Dave Uhrich (who taught at both the American Conservatory of Music and Roosevelt University). Mike has extensive stage and studio experience in Chicago, performing with top bands and artists from the area, both locally and nationally prominent.
