Once upon a time in the US a swanky soulstress met a blue-haired electronic producer. The result, an innovative evolution of sound. Deep, pulsing beats, poetry/melody hybrid, delicious vocal delivery, and honesty that rips right into the core of the listener. So unique when performed live, mouths drop, hypnotized. Lady Courtney, the lyrical chanteuse, delivers an empowered vocal reminiscent of Billie Holiday, Sade and Portishead's Beth Gibbons. Careful not to put this songbird in a box, however, her intimate tone and rich, deep longing melodies stand alone in character.
Lady Courtney's musical resume includes singing back up for Rolan Bolan (son of Marc Bolan, T.Rex), The Rentals (Matthew Sharp, of Weezer fame), Scott Thomas, and Josh Curtis of Plastic Dog, prior to launching a solo career out of Europe.
Lady Courtney released her first label single, "Sufferer, "remixed by The Raven, on Ultra Trip Records, in 2002. Her full length album, "The Montmarte Sessions" was produced by Frenchman Jean-Pierre Bottiau, and experienced radio success in France and the Netherlands. Returning to LA Lady Courtney has collaborated on numerous hip-hop projects for Indie label 40 OZ Records, including the Indie hit, "Get Down.
"MORCEAUX and Lady Courtney have received airplay on LAs' KCRW, KPFK, iTunes eclectic radio present imagine avenue radio, and numerous internet radio stations. Lucien Palmer the beat-master and musical component of Morceaux experienced his first successes in Dallas, Texas.
